What is Reiki Energy Healing?
Reiki is a complementary healing technique used for stress reduction & relaxation that also promotes healing. The energy found in and around all living things. Reiki is a very natural yet powerful non-invasive method that is administered by a gentle healing touch to help promote balance and healing on all levels of Mind-Body-Spirit.
Reiki was rediscovered in early 1800's by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese healer proficient in oriental energy work who discovered a way to use spiritual energy to encourage the body's ability to heal itself. Reiki supports and complements any physical or psychological medical treatment a person may be using by relieving unreleased emotional and physical stress and tension through deep relaxation.
The practice we call Reiki is made of two Japanese words. "Rei" which means Unconditional Love or God's Wisdom, and "Ki" which means the Vital Life Force Energy of the universe and penetrates all living things. This energy is responsive to our thoughts, and gives life to all our organs, cells, bones, and tissues of the body by way of the Chakras, or Wheels of Light.
What Can Reiki Be Used For?
Reiki healing energy may help ease conditions like headaches, arthritis, and high blood pressure, and can be used for wellness to accelerate healing. Reiki is calming and nurturing and may increase a sense of wellbeing. It is used as a preventive tool for the purpose of stress relief and to maintain good health.
(Reiki session do not guarantee a cure, nor are they a substitute for qualified medical or professional care. Reiki is a compliment to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care centers around the country and is one part of an integrative healing or wellness program.)
HOW IS REIKI PERFORMED?
Reiki healing can be performed on a comfortable massage table, sitting upright, or anywhere there is a need. The client may be asked to remove their shoes and wear loose comfortable clothing, but otherwise fully clothed.
Clients may experience this healing energy as tingling, warmth, coolness, or simply a peaceful feeling. Reiki healing energy is intelligent and goes where it is needed most to restore balance and harmony to the body and mind. Afterward the client feels deeply relaxed, wonderfully refreshed and many discomforts may have diminished.
Reiki is used in some healthcare settings including hospitals and hospices as complementary therapy for patients undergoing treatments for chronic pain, cancer, heart disease, infertility. It may promote tissue and bone healing after injury or surgery, stimulate the immune system, relieve, tension and support well-being in those receiving medical procedures. At any rate it has a place in modern health improving quality of life for those seeking relief from stress, anxiety and pain.
